Gazprom, Shell sign contract on Baltic LNG feasibility study

MOSCOW, Aug 8 (PRIME) -- Gazprom LNG Saint Petersburg, an affiliate of Russian gas giant Gazprom, has signed a contract with Shell Gas & Power Developments B.V. for a feasibility study of the Baltic LNG liquefied natural gas project, Gazprom said in a statement on Tuesday.

The companies will also study the principles of harmonization of Russian and LNG international standards, and analyze possible measures to maximize participation of Russian suppliers in the Baltic LNG project, the company said.

Gazprom and Shell signed a memorandum of understanding on the Baltic LNG project, under which the companies will study prospects of cooperation in the project. The Russian company said earlier it postponed the launch of the Baltic LNG plant with an annual capacity of 10 million tonnes of LNG until 2022–2023.
